As many of us assumed, the next gen Xbox will not be available for purchase any time this year. French Marketing Director, Cedrick Delmas, has confirmed that there will be no new console released in 2012. Sad news for some hopefuls looking to get their hands on the latest gear by the holiday season, but a resounding sigh of relief from the majority. With no seemingly rushed deadline, Microsoft may just be able to get their project in perfect shape before it hits the shelves, as opposed to their mishaps with the 360.
Currently the status is unknown regarding Xbox’s rival console’s release date. Many believe we’ll be seeing the PlayStation 4 in the last quarter of 2012. However, given this latest news, Sony may be willing to slow their progress, lending time to the PS4′s perfection. That being said, Sony lost a lot of custom releasing the PS3 later than the Xbox. Maybe this time round we’ll see the PlayStation released first.
What can be expected by Christmas 2012 is the Wii U. It has been confirmed for release in all major regions by the end of the year. That means those looking for a next gen console can look forward to some Nintendo equipment, at least, sitting in their living rooms this festive season.
How do you guys feel about the matter? Would you rather Microsoft take their time with their newest console to render its quality or have a new console as soon as possible? Personally I feel the 360 still has lots of life left in it (that is until it gets a RROD). I’d like to see both Microsoft and Sony take time with their new releases to make sure they’re as good as they possibly can be. That being said I’m probably going to ditch brand loyalty come 2013 and grab the first console that comes to hand. It’s going to be a tight race for Microsoft and Sony… I wonder who will win.
