Discard those hopes and uncross those fingers in anticipation of official news concerning the Xbox 720 being forked over at E3 2012. Albeit the fact that Nintendo will proudly release their newest console this year, the Wii U, Microsoft has announced in an official statement that they will not be unveiling their Xbox 720 with iron fist assurance that the 2012 year is almost exclusively focused on the Xbox 360′s mega success. This statement comes a number of months after Sony released their very own statement declaring that they too would leave their future Playstation out of the E3 showcase.

Despite the exclusion of the next generation of consoles from two gigantuan players in the gaming industry, E3 will undoubtedly bring forth a rush of gaming euphoria as new gameplay footage, news, and demos will be shown for upcoming games. With Microsoft claiming that “for us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360-and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360,” one can only expect that the upcoming roster of game releases for 2012 will be a monumental boost in the remaining days of the Xbox 360, a console that helped usher in a revolutionary age of console gaming. It is also pleasing news that Microsoft, whom also claimed “while we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon,” is keeping their hearts in a console with plenty of opportunity and promise for gamers while keeping the Xbox 720 a temporary and secondary priority at the moment. Stay golden while you can, Xbox 360.
