Ubisoft has obtained THQ Montreal and the publishing rights to South Park: The Stick of Truth, the RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

We've reached out to Ubisoft regarding the status of Patrice Désilets, the former creative lead on Assassin's Creed 2 who left Ubisoft quite publicly for THQ back in 2011. "It's too soon to say for certain, but we are very excited about THQ Montreal becoming part Ubisoft," a company representative said. "In the coming weeks we'll be looking at how to offer an organizational structure that provides continuity for the creative teams involved. Unannounced projects from THQ Montreal are included as part of the acquisition.

"We are very excited to welcome the experienced and talented people from THQ Montreal to our internal development teams, and are convinced that they will be bringing a lot to the group."

Ubisoft still plans to launch South Park: The Stick of Truth in calendar 2013.
