HD collections have been a polarizing thing in the gaming industry for the last year or so. Some people cherish the opportunity to play some of their favorite games with new content, better graphics, and on their current system while talking to friends. Others feel it is a waste of money and a complete cop-out for game developers looking to make a quick buck off of games that were released many years ago. So, now that we know that two more HD collections are being released later this month by Sony, is this the marker for more and more HD collections on the way?

Coming out on August 28th, the inFAMOUS collection and God of War Saga are perfect examples of the new fad of re-releasing old games. However, hidden within these games is a great value. Take the God of War Saga collection for example: consumers get all five God of War games (1-3, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta) for only $40. Now, the first two God of War games were already released in a HD collection, but in general, $40 for five games is a really good deal.

But, that could be the exception and not the rule, though I am inclined to believe they will continue making them. Realistically, Sony certainly has plenty of titles out there that they could remake in HD. For example, I am sure fans would eat up a Kingdom Hearts remake, or a Final Fantasy remake for that matter. The list goes on from there, as Sony would still have Crash Bandicoot, PaRappa, Spyro, Gex, etc…and those are just the old school games that could be remade.

What do you guys think about HD collections? Do you think Sony will move more into this direction? Will it be limited to only Sony?
