It seems as if Valve may be trying to persuade some new customers into the PC market. Now through July 23rd Steam and GameStop have teamed up to offer a a 30% bonus in Steam credits when trading in a console game here in the US. That credit will be directly applied to your Steam Wallet.
Not everyone trades in their games for whatever reason though. We all know the complaints with companies like GameStop so some of us choose to hold on to our games instead of feeding the machine. For those of you who do choose to recycle, is it worth it?
Yes, it may give gamers a chance to jump ship over the the PC crowd at a discounted price but think about the flaw. Those consumers who are constantly trading in games tend to do so over and over. This deal will put an end to that since Steam offers no such program. Steam offers regularly discounted games for those on a budget, so maybe those consumers will take a liking to the pricing in the Steam world and never come back. Are you willing to bite?
