We all figured it would only be a matter of time until sources divulged information on Microsoft’s rumored Xbox 720. Now, it appears sources close to IGN have told them that the Xbox 720 will ship to retailers in late October or early November of 2013.
Along with the release date, IGN also learned that the processing power of the 720 is expected to be “six times that of the Xbox 360″ and will yield “20-percent greater performance than Nintendo’s forthcoming console, the Wii U.”
According to their sources, mass production of the systems GPU will begin near the end of the year. However, it is noted that the GPU will not be based on AMD’s 7000 series Southern Island’s GPU. Instead, it will be based on the 6000 series, which was released earlier last year. Specifically, it will be similar to the Radeon HD 6670, which supports a multitude of interesting features such as HD, DirectX11, multi-display output, and 1080p HD output.
Finally, IGN learned that developers should receive development kits in August that will be based on the systems final configuration.
