While it may have seemed like this long awaited sequel would never come, there is finally an official release date. After an almost 10 year gap from it’s last release and a major developer switch, Rockstar games is expecting to launch the game on May 15, 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms in North America with other platforms shortly after.
Now, this wasn’t the first scheduled release date for Rockstar. Originally, it was slotted for a March release date. Chairman and CEO of Take-Two commented on the delay with saying:”We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our company.”
Many gamers may be skeptical of the developer switch from Remedy to Rockstar, but have no fear, Rockstar is known for their over the top, high quality gaming experiences. The original writer and creator of the series, Sam Lake, was asked what he thought about the game and he proclaimed it was simply “brilliant.”
With all of the backing and highly anticipated reviews, I know I will picking up this game to see what is in store for the dark cinematic style of play; will you? Maybe this is the game to get the older audience back while staying true to their roots.
