:O
Windows 8 is said to be the latest and greatest Operating System from Microsoft so far.
Windows has always been one of the most popular operating systems,
however with the new technologies and devices will Windows 8 matchup to
its competitors.
Windows 8 brags about being a multi-device Operating System; working on
tablet computers, as well as your usual desktop and laptop PCs. So how
will the new technology compete with such systems as Apple and their
iPad tablet? Well for starts there is the new interface; there is no
longer the normal desktop appearance but now Microsoft have unveiled
Metro – the new interface designed specifically for touch-screen
devices.
One of the big talks is about the hardware that Microsoft are developing
their software for; well we know they are branching in to touch screen
technology – but what else? ARM that’s what! Cambridge-based ARM
Holdings will see a great boost as Windows is said to be predominately
base its Windows 8 Metro devices on the ARM technology. ARM, Advanced
RISC Machine, is architecture such as PowerPC however ARM boasts lower
power consumption making it idea for devices such as mobiles.
However Microsoft’s domination in technology and computers has gradually
weakened; increased popularity in other web browsers like Mozilla
Firefox and Google Chrome as well as alternative OS like Linux, Mac OS
X, and Google Chrome OS. So will Microsoft’s Windows 8 be the hype of
technology and prove superior to the rest or will it be like Windows
Vista and receive fierce criticism and cause people to stick and/or
revert back to Windows XP or Windows 7.
