Last year at CES, we got a chance to see the prototype for "Project Fiona", a Windows-based tablet made for PC gaming. Today, as part of CES 2013, Razer announced that the tablet, running Windows 8, would go on sale later in the first quarter of 2013 under its official name, Razer Edge.

Razer's press release states that the 10.1 inch tablet will go on sale in the first quarter of 2013 and it will come in two versions. The first will have an Intel Core i5 processor, an NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 64 GB SSD. It will be priced at $999. The second model, called the Razer Edge Pro, will have the same NVIDIA graphics chip, but will be upgraded to an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD. Pricing for the Razer Edge Pro has not been announced.

Razer will also offer a Gamepad Controller as a bundle with the Razer Edge Pro or as a separate add-on for $249.99; it puts in two game controllers, one on either side of the tablet. There will also be an optional docking station for the tablet sold for $99.99 that will serve as a charging station for the Razer Edge. It will also add three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, a microphone port and a stereo headset port.

Razer will launch a Keyboard Dock for the tablet in the third quarter of 2013 for $199.99. There will also be an extended battery for $69.99 that can connect to the Keyboard Dock as well as the Gamepad Controller that will double the tablet's battery life.
