Castlevania is on the way to becoming a movie after all, according to an interview with Michael Dorn, best known to geekdom as Star Trek’s Worf.

StarTrek.com asked Dorn about the film as naturally as if we’d all known it was a thing. Dorn, who has appeared in more Star Trek media than any other cast member, said he got into Castlevania thanks to Marina Sirtis (Star Trek’s Deanna Troi).

“People have been trying to get this thing done for a long time and they finally got the producers together that want to do it. They finally got the OK from the owners, and so they’re doing it,” he revealed.

“It’s a fun little part. It’s four days, and I’m playing a werewolf that’s been around for a gajillion years who works for this vampire. It’s not too far from Worf because there’s a lot of killing and jumping and sword fights and everything.”

And that is literally everything we know about it, although we’re on Konami like a leopard.

The project has been on the cards since at least 2006, when Paul WS Anderson was attached to it with a $50 million budget. It changes distribution companies a couple of times, struck budgeting problems, was handed over to Sylvain White, went silent during a writer’s strike, and was declared cancelled in 2009. Video games aren’t the easiest projects to work into films; let’s hope we won’t need to count Castlevania among the fallen.

Since its debut in 1986 the vampire-hunting Castlevania series has produced well over 20 core series entries and loads of spin-offs.
