The company who made Diablo 3, Blizzard now has admitted the game is still a work in progress. Some ways may be signifigant, others not so much.

Blizzard are currently working on server and programming issues that have arose, like problems connecting to the game. Just yesterday, they came out with a list of hotfixes that have been added to the game. Such as: players now recieving an error message when trying to remove a gem from an item without sockets (instead of just disconnecting), players not being able to dual-wield two-handed weapons, or how the rare chest in the Town Cellar in Alcanus will only spawn 50% of the time (instead of 100%).

Blizzard’s Community Manager Bashiok has also said ”We don’t intend to take these quick and drastic measures often, but considering the severity of the issue, we felt it important to correct it swiftly,”.

In my opinion, players don’t deserve this. They shouldn’t be allowed to play a game that is ill-finished and is certainly not bug-free. Could it be seen as unfair to the players that couldn’t get the game immediately? The first users had the advantage of things like the ability to remain invincible to attacks after defeating Diablo or the Arcade Torrent shooting three new missiles per kill, instead of one. Conversely it could give the pre-fix players a slight sense of dissatisfaction as their first experience of the game was not pitch perfect.
