Dean Hall, who is the DayZ mode creator, has been working very hard on the standalone retail version of DayZ since it was announced back in August.
A majority of the first part of the video deals with clothing, but the part that everyone is most interested in comes near the end. Matt Lightfoot joins Dean in this video to explain how loot spawning has changed, specifically items can spawn in odd places like behind overturned chairs or underneath kitchen tables. What this means for players is that in this standalone, you're going to have to invest a little more time looking around for loot.
DayZ also gets the swamps added to the island along with another small island off the coast of Chernarus. It's an island pulled directly from Arma 2.
The downside to all this wonderful news is that there is no word yet as to when we will get to play the standalone version, but he did say that the team at Bohemia Interactive are working to be more transparent during the development process, offering information in blogs and more frequent video updates like this.
