If you have an external hdd thingy for you xbox can you replace the hdd inside with any old 2.5"sata drive?

Like that drive that clips on the top?
Cant you just take it apart and put another size hdd in it?
I know if you replace the internal with a third party one you may get banned.
But what about that one?

I don't think it's possible to do it with those I thought you meant one of the internal ones in the slim
