Not to be confused with an online pass, which is shilled with second-hand games, the season pass offers Borderlands 2 fans a chance to pre-purchase all DLC and score a discount in the process.
Gearbox is planning on four DLC packs, each with a campaign lasting “several hours”. We only have the Australian press release at time of writing, which prices the individual packs at 800 MS Points on Xbox 360 and AY $15.95 on PC and PlayStation 3.
Obviously it will cost you AU$63.80 or 3200 MS Points to get all four, whereas the pass is going for AU$39.95 or 2400 MS Points.
The four packs are all expected by June 2013 at the latest, and that number does not include the Mechromancer. This fifth additional class will be free to those who pre-order the game along with Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key, the Vault Hunter’s Relic.
Gearbox has said it expects the Mechnomancer to release about two months after Borderlands 2′s launch, but both Polygon and Kotaku report Randy Pitchford confirmed an October 16 date. Our press release made no mention of a date beyond “once development of the character is complete”.
The season pass was first outed last week. Borderlands 2 launches later this month on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
