DUST 514′s Vita companion app lets you view the whole massive, evolving EVE Online universe in real time. Holy mackerel.

“There’s New Eden in real time on your Vita. 700 solar systems and you can drill down and look at the individual planets,” CCP creative director Atli Mars Sveinsson told the EU PS Blog while demonstrating the touch-screen controlled map at gamesom.
“Over time we’d like you to be able to tinker with those planets and manage their surface infrastructure.”
This map will apparently also feature in PlayStation 3 title DUST 514, but can you carry that around on the bus to geek out over? No.
Neocom, as the app is called, includes a full suit of both social and user tools, too. Players will be able to send and receive messages, customise their load outs and equipment, and shop the free-to-play shooter’s store. Anything you change can be saved to the cloud for use on your PS3 later.
DUST 514 shares a single-shard universe with MMO EVE Online, and CCP plans to increasingly interconnect the two games as time goes on. DUST 514 is expected later this year.
