A couple of months ago, Apple announced it would have its own mobile map app for iOS 6, dumping its previous support for Google Maps. Now yet another well known Google made app won't be available out of the box for iOS 6-based devices when Apple launches the next update for its OS later this year.
Bloomberg reports that, according to a spokesperson from Apple, the iOS YouTube app won't be pre-loaded for iOS 6. The spokesperson confirmed, "Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended." There is no word why Apple and Google decided to end their license.
That doesn't mean that the YouTube iOS app is going away completely. Apple's spokesperson did confirm, "Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store." YouTube videos can also still be accessed from the iOS version of the Safari web browser.
The rumors about the YouTube app started on the message board on MacRumors.com, which noted that the latest beta build of iOS 6 sent to developers did not have the app included. The YouTube app has been available as a standard pre-loaded and installed app since Apple launched the first iPhone back in 2007.
