Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has apologised to early Wii U adopters for it's early teething problems, especially that all the systems features were not usable out of the box.
"Personally I think that users should be able to use all the functions of a console video game machine as soon as they open the box," said Iwata.
"So I feel very sorry for the fact that purchasers of Wii U have to experience a network update which takes such a long time, and that there are the services which were not available at the hardware's launch."
Users who were first to get their Wii U were greeting with a day 1 firmware update that weighed over 1GB, with so many users trying to download the patch at the same time, download speeds were very slow. Those who thought their Wii U had crashed and thought rebooting was a good idea were mostly greeting with a bricked Wii U unit (as we had previously reported on).
If any users have accidentally bricked their Wii U, the answer is to take it back to the store you brought it from or get in contact with Nintendo.
