Earlier this morning, Abobe released a new update for its Flash Player software for various platforms. The update did not include one for Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 8. Now, Microsoft has confirmed it has released a new update for IE10 that does indeed update the web browser for the latest version of Flash.

In a post on the company's Security Response Center blog, Microsoft said, "Today we revised Security Advisory 2755801 to address issues in Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer 10, in conjunction with Adobe’s update process." The company added, "We remain committed to taking the appropriate actions to help protect customers and will continue to work closely with Adobe to deliver quality protections that are aligned with Adobe’s update process."

A few weeks ago, some early users of Windows 8 complained that the version of Flash that was included in IE10 was well behind the version that was already installed in other platforms. It appears that with this new Flash update, we can expect to see IE10 on Windows 8 to receive the Flash updates around the same time as other platforms from now on. Indeed, Microsoft said that for IE10, it may "issue updates outside of our regular monthly security bulletin release."
