With 3D capabilities on the rise, it was only a matter of time before next generation consoles explored the option. That time is now for Microsoft.

Recently, Microsoft has listed a new job opening for “Algorithm Research & Development Engineer for XBOX team.” The description of the job goes on to list the responsibilities of “algorithm design and implementation into state of the art 3D imaging systems working in an integrated HW and SW leading team, working closely with peers in Redmond, and being part of a fast moving and growing development team.”

While the intent and detail of this listing is not clear, it is obvious Microsoft is putting some thought into the future of 3D technology. Are 3D capable TVs common enough to market to them only or will this be an added feature? Hopefully this is a minor part of next generation consoles and not standard option for displays. Could we see Microsoft possibly corner the market with 3D capable consoles along with 3D TVs, as reported by Sega?

Don't they already do something like this with the 3D tv's?
